Advertising Ebooks Vs. Tbooks

I'm getting ready for my first day of grad school after a 10 year hiatus. I'm going for an MFA in Web and New Media at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. In case you didn't know, I live in Chicago. I'm going for my degree online.

So over the next couple of years, I invite you to go on journey with me and experience higher learning online through my eyes. I will probably dedicate at least one post per week to my school experiences. Maybe it will help you decide if online works best for you too.

Today, I got most of my textbooks on my Kindle. I was surprised by how many textbooks are available. I had to buy one book that won't arrive until after class starts. Fortunately, my local library loans books via Kindle and I was able to borrow the book there.

The great thing about ebooks on a Kindle Cloud is that you can pull it up on any device with a Kindle app, from cell phone to laptop (no, you don't have to own one). You can highlight text, get notations from others and each device will keep track of where you left off. The big negative is that you can't sell back your book and you can only borrow from someone once for two weeks.

I know you current students are already experts at this. Do you have any tips for a returning student? After all these years of sharing my experiences as Professor Ad Man, I now look forward to you schooling me.
