Creativity On A Deadline – South Park Style.
Sometimes the best idea doesn't come until the final minute.
Sometimes you just keep tweaking an idea until there's no time left, because you keeping thinking you can make it better.
Sometimes we just procrastinate and you get what see, because we can't work on it anymore.
It can drive worriers insane, but the final countdown works magic for others, as in the case of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of South Park. Unlike many shows, they don't have several shows in the can for the season. The show airs on a Wednesday. They start crafting that previous Thursday.
Producing under crazy deadlines sounds like working at an agency. The work is solid when there is good chemistry, as in the case of Parker and Stone. You need chemistry in midst of the chaos. Check out the cut clip from a recent 60 Minutes interview. (Use the link. I couldn't get the embedded video to work.)

Account (or producer, in this case) hounds the creatives about the looming deadline.
The creatives ignore them, but still manage to deliver.
Sounds like a typical day at the agency.
