I'm thinking about creating an app for a promotion. Whenever I think about creating anything, I give myself the  contacts quiz:

What's my favorite app?

Who created that app?

Do I have a contact there?

Have I ever reached out to them?

Do I know anyone who can help me?

If you can answer every question –congrats – you are doing better that most. If not, you need to up your game. It doesn't matter if it's an app, video game, or a commercial. If you see work that inspires you, find the inspiring brains behind it. Introduce yourself. Just say you like their work and maybe we could possibly work together on a future project.

They aren't reclusive rock stars (although some have the egos), they are business people. If you present a future opportunity that looks lucrative, the people you want to work with just might show some interest and you've just gained a valuable contact.
