Follow the Business.

Client break-up is a part of agency life. And don't jump to the conclusion that you were bad at your job (even when it results in you being laid off). There are political reasons and other backroom decisions you will never be privy to. But when a client does leave, it doesn't mean the end.

A big account win may mean staffing up to accommodate it.

When an agency picks up a new account, they often need people who are familiar with the business. That means hiring people from the old agency. So apply to the new shop and show them how you were beneficial to the account. They may have a need for your experience.

Sometimes your client will recommend you (now you know it wasn't your fault).

You can follow the business to a new agency when the client leaves you.

In the best circumstance, maybe the new agency will tackle this account from a fresh perspective and expose you to new approaches to doing better work.

On the other hand, it may also be business as usual. Same old work. New Agency. Look at it this way- you're still working, but a new agency environment can still expose you to new (and hopefully better) opportunities.
