Reach Out And Card Someone.

After you recover from your turkey coma and Black Friday shopping, make some time to lay out the groundwork for your 2011 job search.
Make a list of all of your contacts this year. You are going to send them holiday cards – and you are going to make them. Don't think about going Hallmark on this one. You are creatives. Make every effort and use every opportunity to show them how creative you are. When you send the card, make them holiday generic. Happy New Year card is the safest bet. E-Cards are okay, but there is a risk that they won't be opened. I rarely open attachments if I don't recognize the name. Cards overall, help you re-establish contact without being intrusive.
Having contacts means more than just building up numbers on your Linkedin page. Stay in touch and keep yourself top-of-mind with them. Maybe they don't have a position for you right now or you weren't right for their current openings, but things change. When opportunities present themselves, you want hiring managers, HR personnel, creative directors – everyone to think of you.
Break out the macaroni, glitter and fingerpaint.
