Standing At The Crossroads

I recently came to a crossroads in my life. I had to ask myself the question: Do I stay at a place where I’m just happy to have a job or do I take a job that could make me happy? After several talks with my wife, we chose the latter and headed for Chicago.

It’s been almost two months and we haven’t stopped smiling.

I’ve always been a risk-taker, but I’ve never been reckless. When I go all-in in a poker game, I’m pretty damn sure I can take you down.

This crazy recession has put many of us in a place where we have nothing left to lose. This truly is the time to stop thinking of excuses and start pursuing your passions.Yeah, I know you come across a lot of feel-good sermons. People don't know your pain, so motivational speeches sound like a lot of bull. I'm not trying to sell you a sermon. I'm just another guy who went with his gut and is glad he did.

If you do the same, it won’t be easy, but the journey is much more enjoyable than the daily grind of just getting by. Yeah, it’s scary; I’m a religious man. So I find strength in prayer.

So now I’m at a great shop where I truly feel creative again. And it feels good.

And I’m in a town where the football team is currently 3-0 and not 0-3. (That could change by Sunday. Go Bears!)

This is a business where we go with our gut and convince others it's the way to go. If you've had a few setbacks, it's easy to lose your way. I know. I've been there. Eventually, you have to start learning to trust your gut again.

If you haven’t come to the crossroads yet — you will soon. I pray you’ll find the path to your own personal fulfillment.
