Get Your Brand Moving

I always get asked, "Where do you get your inspiration?" Sometimes it's happy accidents. Many times it's just random stuff I come across and save it for the right moment. I keep a big file and I suggest you do also. So I'm going to start a new segment on Fridays and point out some things I've bookmarked that might be a good thought starter for something bigger. If you find some good stuff, share it with the rest of us.

Years ago, my creative team and I staged a BMX bike show for Michelin for a SEMA event (They make bike tires too). Believe it or not, we attracted more attention than many of the displays packed with booth babes — seriously, we were surprised, too.

Anyway, I found this site for Bike By Me which lets you follow a template to customize a bike design. They may be just what you need for street teams, promotions and events. I tend to bookmark these kind of vendors as a resources. You never know when they'll come in handy to create some attention-grabbing eye candy. Go create your own design.

If you want your team rolling in something a bit more upscale, check out the MINI Scooter E Concept. Your iPhone can hook up to it to run apps and it recognizes other MINI riders on the road nearby. Check out the YouTube video.

I've said this often, don't be gimmicky just because you can. The idea has to fit and make sense. If it's as simple as just getting some attention on the streets, with or without cleavage, a funky bike might do the trick. If you want to introduce a new navigation app, there might be something engaging about demonstrating it on the scooter of the future.
