Why Professor Ad Man?

I’ve been fortunate (blessed, actually) to work as an advertising copywriter foralmost 20 years. I’m often asked to speak at colleges about my job. The faceschange every year, but they all want to know the same thing: How can I get ajob like yours?

Really?

OK, here it goes: students and recent grads, this is for you. From the lectures to sitting on panels at job fairs, I've seen a lot of common mistakes made by students - mistakes that may cost you jobs. I'm writing from a creative's perspective, but a future account exec might get something out of this too.

So I’m going toschool you on what’s worked for me and for others.

There’s no magic formula to getting a job in this business.If I had one, I’d write a bestseller or launch a reality series and everyonewould be working. I could singlehandedly end the recession.

Still, if any of my ramblings actually help you get a job,let me know (I'd really like to pitch that reality series).
